View large Ancient toys (3rd century BC to 1st century AD) found at Bhir Mound in Sirkap, just outside Taxila, Pakistan; famous for its ancient Buddhist temples. The toys are on display at the Taxila museum. Sirkap is the name of an archaeological site opposite to the city of Taxila. The city was built by the Greco-Bactrian king Demetrius after he invaded India around 180 BC. Demetrius founded in the northern and northwestern Indian subcontinent an Indo-Greek kingdom that was to last until around 10 BC. When the Greek philosopher Apollonius of Tyana visited Taxila in the 1st century he said "Taxila, they tell us, is about as big as Nineveh, and was fortified fairly well after the manner of Greek cities" Personally I wonder if he played with any of these :)
